Language & Autism - Strategies - Sequence

Many students that I have worked with have great difficulty comparing 2 or more items and recognizing a pattern or sequence. It is very hard for them to see how one thing is related to another even with items that are very concrete and easy to represent with a visual image. As items, events and ideas become more abstract and complex the task becomes even harder. I have found that scaffolding activities to build a repertoire of scenarios is a powerful way to build communication competence.
