Language & Autism - Materials - Display: Manipulatives

Materials can provide a critical link to meaning when engaging a person in a learning activity. If the language associated with a concept or event is undeveloped or weak, the use of visual and tactile prompts can promote understanding that is confounded by speech. The motor memory that occurs with physical manipulation of items assists learning and recall. Visuals are more effective if they are clear, uncluttered, iconic, and sized appropriately for the task or activity. The manipulatives printables listed below can be printed, laminated, cut and matched to a variety of learning activities.
